Only one Ellesmere Port Runner braved the baltic conditions on Sunday afternoon to run the ever popular Alsager 5 Mile road race. Boasting one of the strongest fields in Britain over 5 mile, it's always sure to produce some stunningly fast times, and this years field was one of the best.
Nicky Bird was the sole representative and did the club proud in her first 5 mile race in 18 months. Running 30:56 for 162nd place and 20th lady overall just shows the quality of this field. Nicky will be hoping to break 30 minutes in the next club borders race in 2 weeks time.
The men's race was won in a stunning 23:25 (4:41 minute per mile average) by Phil Wicks of Belgrave Harriers with the women's title going to Claire Martin of Telford Harriers in a very swift 27:29 (5:30 minute per mile average).
