Three club members made the trip to Wilmslow to take part in what is classed as one of the best half marathons in the northwest. In good weather conditions all three set about the task of completing this flat to undulating 13.1-mile course. First home for the club was Keith Jones in 26th place (V40) with a time of 1:25:12. Followed by Alison Hughes in 1:37:17. Completing is trio and making a welcome return to action was Alan Durston in 1:42:27. With hopefully all his numerous setbacks during the winter months well and truly behind him, Alan can set his sights firmly on a strong summer campaign.
The winner was Sale Harriers member Gareth Raven in 1:06:29. Michelle Ross won the ladies race in a time of 1:12:50.
Borders League
Helsby Running Club are hosts of the penultimate race of the 2007/8 season. The men's team is hovering just above the relegation zone, so a good turn out is required to maintain our place in division 1. Remember all runners count towards the final score, by either reducing our total or adding to the other teams score. The race starts at 11am, members can either make their own way their or if they wish to share lifts, meet at the Whitby Sports & Social club at 9:45am.
