Local Clubs unite to compete with best in North at Relays
Last Saturday saw Ellesmere Port Running Club and West Cheshire AC join forces to produce a combined team to compete at the North of England 12 stage road relays held at Heaton Park, Manchester.
The relay consisted of 8 short legs of 5 kilometres and 4 long legs of 8 kilometres although the latter was widely agreed to be slightly longer, based on finishing times. Morpeth Harriers & AC were the overall winners with Sale Harriers Manchester second and Leeds City AC third.
West Cheshire's Paul Frodsham kicked off proceedings and completed the first long leg in 31.06. Steve Crowe ran the shorter second leg of 5K crossing the line in 17.23 to release Graham McNeil (WC) who produced a time of 16.23. The 6 th round of the Borders league was staged last Sunday with hosts Buckley Runners putting on a hilly 5 mile course starting and finishing at Mold Leisure Centre.
