Norwich Union City V City 10K 6th June

Around 1600+ runners took part in the City vs. City 10k in Liverpool city centre on Sunday. The premise being, 3 teams, Liverpool, Glasgow and London compete over 6.21 miles, with the winning team being the city with the lowest average 10k time. This year, Glasgow were the victors, with Liverpool 2nd and last but not least, London.

Representing Liverpool were many of Ellesmere Ports finest runners. 1st home for the club and in 28th position overall in 39:21 was Matt Whitfield, astonishing on-lookers far and wide with his 2nd place in the V50 category not just from the Liverpool runners, but nationwide.

Following Matt home was Alison MacDonald in 45:53 and 544th position. Next home was Madeline Bird. Running a new personal best by 1 second, finishing in a time of 47:28. Just behind Madeline was the rarely seen Kevin Curtis in 47:55.

Debbie Hawker ran a great race, storming home close behind in 52:02. Just missing out on a PB was Nigel Crierie running a fine race to post a time of 52:54

Over in Lancashire, in the sun and heat was EPRC’s sole representative, Alan Durston in the popular Blackpool Marathon. Posting a solid time of 4:25:24 for 298th position Alan must’ve been feeling the heat with one of the hottest days of the year and one of the hottest of his now 20 full marathons. Well done Alan that will certainly be a record for the club that will be around for a long time.
