Not the
quickest 10k in the world, however, certainly gaining in popularity
is the Warrington 10k, where Simon Jeffs, Graham Earlham and Jon
Cole certainly made their impact for Ellesmere Port, running around
Woolston Linear Park, East Warrington and surrounding roads on a
tricky twisty and turny course.
Winning the
race was Damian Nichols of Wilmslow RC in 32:18(5:11 m/m ), 2nd
place going to James Scott-Buccleuch of Stockport Harriers in 33:44
(5:25 m/m) and 3rd Andrew Lamont 34:23 (5:32 m/m ). Simon Jeffs was
first man home for EPRC running strongly if not as quickly as he'd
wanted placing 28th in 37:32 (6:02 m/m). Simon will now be
concentrating on speed work and is targeting the Dollgelau 5 Miler
at the end of July. Graham Earlham was next home in 34th position in
38:09 (6:08 m/m) running his quickest 10k for some time and showing
that he's now got the racing bug back. However performance of the
day remain with Jon Cole. After over a year of trying, Jon managed
to breach the holy grail of 10k club running smashing 40 minutes for
the first time. Placing 50th in a superb new PB of 39:39 (6:22 m/m)
Jon must now remain focused and set himself a new target of breaking
in the 38's by the end of summer.

Rotary 10k 27th June 2010
Over in
Wallasey Brian Griffiths was ripping up the tarmac in superb style
with a great run on this popular but tough 10k. The race goes along
Morton Common past the popular lighthouse along scenic coastal roads
around the golf course and back along the coastal path to the
common. The heat was a major factor with the mercury hitting 28C for
the start of the race, so fast times were out of the question.
However, Brian acquitted himself well in the conditions posting
45:35 (7:20 m/m). However, official results are still to be
released.
