Last Sunday saw 280 runners make their way to the Wrexham Industrial Estate for the Helena Tipping 10K hosted by Wrexham AC. The race was won by Luke Northall of Tipton Harriers in a time of 33.03 from Deeside AAC's Pete Lambert 2 nd in 33.23 and Wrexham AC's Ted Partridge 3 rd in 33.39.
Ellesmere Port Running Club was well represented at the race taking no fewer than ten runners who participated.
EPRC's Nicky Bird who set a new course record 12 months ago was back again to defend her title and was in confident mood following her Borders League victory two weeks ago and even had the audacity to leave the winners shield at home on her mantle place. Nicky was to claim victory in 37.32 exactly one minute ahead of her closest rival Helen Davies of Wrexham AC.
Steve Crowe was the first EPRC male to cross the line after steadily climbing up the field and finishing 5 th overall in a time of 34.38 and collecting a prize for 3 rd Senior Male.
Paul Robertson was the second Ellesmere Port runner home after finishing in 37.15 to secure 26 th position.
Chris Marshall was the next runner home for the club after an improvement of almost half a minute from last years race saw Chris finish 41 st in 38.38.
Next back for Ellesmere Port was Matt Whitfield who completed the course in 39.36 for 51 st position overall and 6 th in the V45 age category.
Hot on the tail of Matt was Mark Dodd who just faded a little from 5 miles but still produced a satisfactory time on the day of 39.50 for 54 th position.
Men's captain Steve Blaylock was the 7 th Ellesmere Port finisher after completing the race in 43.06 for 95 th place.
Alan Durston was next to finish after clocking a time of 44.09 for 109 th position and was quickly followed by Andrew Hunt who finished in 44.39 for 112 th place.
The final runner to finish for Ellesmere Port Running Club was Thomas Downey who managed a finishing time of 49.01 to secure 171 st place.
