Ian secures series victory at Deeside

Last Friday evening saw the fourth and final staging of the Deeside Off-Road races.

Victory on the night was chalked up by Deeside AAC runner Peter Lambert in a time of 26.33.

First Ellesmere Port runner home was Ian Cooper who set a personal best time for the course in 28.02 securing 6 th place and this was enough to give Ian victory in the very competitive Vet 40 age category for the overall series.

Denis Duret produced a good time on the night and was Ellesmere Port's second runner home after posting 29.05 for 13 th place.

Making yet another comeback was John Jennings who shocked onlookers by starting the race at the very back, usually John will be seen with the Kenyan's at the start of any race for the first few hundred metres. John finished in a good time of 33.05 for 43 rd position.

Paul Welsh was the final EPRC runner to finish on the night after posting a time of 34.31 for 49 th position.

On the ladies race, no Ellesmere Port runners were present, however Alison Hughes in her first season with the club had already done enough in the previous three races of the series to secure the runners up spot in the senior ladies age category receiving a silver medal at the presentation.

On Saturday afternoon two EPRC runners headed into Wales for the Llyn Brenig multi terrain race.

Mike Burns was the first Ellesmere Port runner home in an impressive time of 62.05 to secure 17 th position.

Alison Macdonald was to produce a good time of 1 hour and 12 minutes finishing 51 st overall and 3 rd in the Lady Vet 35 category.

On Sunday, Steve Crowe travelled into North Wales for the Caernarfon 10K and found out it's not a good idea to race after being ill for the previous few days as Steve ran out of fuel after 4 kilometres and dragged himself to the finish in a time of 39.02 for 21 st position.

The final race of the day saw Chris Marshall (1134) being tempted by the Wolverhampton marathon for which he finished in a time of 4 hours 28 minutes for 114 th position.
