Four Ellesmere Port runners made the trip to Llandudnoto take part in the The Nick Beer 10K memorial race on Sunday 10th February. The race follows a picturesque and notoriously difficult route around the famous Great Orme, making personal bests hard to achieve. However in near perfect weather conditions their were still some excellent times set by our quartet of runners.
First home for the club and reaping the rewards for all his hard training in the build up to the London Marathon was Dave Nalder, with a very impressive time of 40:47, securing him 6th in the Vet 50 age group and 71st overall. No doubt, Dave will be targeting a sub 40 on this course next year. Next home and Nick Beer regular was John Hawker in a time of 42:48, it would be interesting so see what time John is capable of doing if he ever decided to do a fast 10k. Next home and continuing to impress with her form was Madeline Bird who just missed out on the honors finishing 4th in the ladies vet 50 category, with a time of 50:57. In hot pursuit and completing, the lineup was Nigel Crierie who finished the course in 52:08.
The winner was up and coming local runner Nick Swinburn from Bangor running club with a time of 32:01. Unattached runner Anna Bartlett won the ladies race in 38:24.
