Nine runners from the club made the journey down too Lake Vrynwy in mid Wales to take part in this very popular and picturesque race. However, by the impressive times posted by all club members, it is clear not too much time was spent admiring the views. As all nine runners managed to finish the race with times below the 1hr 40min mark.
First home for the club and breaking the 80min barrier for the first time was Stephen Laker, finishing in 23rd-place (12th senior male) with a time of 1:18:15. Next home and just being pipped to 3rd place by 15sec in the V50 section was Matt Whitfield, in 1:26:04. Closely followed by Michael Burns (1:27:42) & Dave Nalder (1:28:42, 10th V50). First Lady for the club was Alison Hughes in a time of 1:34:05, then Roy Traynor (1:36:54), Alison MacDonald (1:37:11, 6th L40), Alan Durston 1:38:08 & Dave Roberts (1:39:46). The overall winner of the race was Paul Sankey from Liverpool Harriers in a time of 1:11:28.
The Trafford 10k
Steve Crowe and Simon Jeffs made journey to Manchester to take part in the very competitive and fast Trafford 10k, in preparation for the winter racing season. Steve Crowe was first home for the club in 11th position in a time of 34:21, followed by Simon Jeffs in 26th place, in a time of 36:15. With a few weeks solid training, both runners will no doubt be setting new personal bests within the very near future. The overall winner was Neil Renault from Long Eaton Running Club with a very impressive time of 30:41.
5th Anniversary Celebration
Ellesmere Port running club is now in its 5th year and since its humble beginnings as Rivacre Runners & Joggers in 1986 has gone from strength to strength. To mark the anniversary of the club becoming Ellesmere Port running club, they are holding a celebration evening at the Oak Room, Whitby sports and social club, on Friday 21st September. The band, OUT OF ORDER, will be the highlight to the night’s festivities. All friends and family of the club, both new and old are invited. Beginners' sessions
Finally, anyone wishing to join the club whether beginner or competent runner, we meet at the Whitby Sports and Social Club on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.45pm to commence running at 7pm and welcome all abilities in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
In addition, we are currently holding a beginner’s night on Wednesday nights starting at 7:00pm (meeting at 6:55). Anyone who’s never ran before, feels scared to join a club for fear of lack of ability, or has simply never thought of the benefits of running, this is the class for you. Starting at the easiest level, EPRC coaches will be there for you to start you on your journey of jogging and fitness.
