Last Thursday saw the start of this years Deestriders off road series that is situated on the banks of the River Dee between Shotton & Connah's Quay and is approximately 5 miles in distance.
The winner of the race was the ever improving Clive West of Buckley AC who posted a time of 26.07 some 49 seconds clear of second place Ricky Challinor of Deeside AC who finished in 26.56.
First runner home for Ellesmere Port Running Club was Denis Duret who steadily moved up the field to finish in a respectable 14 th position in 29.05
Steve Crowe was the second runner home for EPRC posting a time of 29.24 for 16 th position and was followed home by Dave Winder who finished in an excellent 29.54 for 19 th position in his first outing on the course.
Nicky Bird was the next runner home in 25 th position overall and the first lady to cross the line in a time of 30.41
Setting yet another Personal Best time this year was Matt Whitfield who finished in 27 th position in 30.58.
Les Fleetwood was the next runner to finish after tackling the course in 33.08 for 47 th position.
New men's captain Steve Blaylock was next to finish after completing the distance in 33.14 to secure 48 th place.
Paul Welsh, improving his times from last year's series was next runner in for EPRC in a time of 34.11 for 54 th position.
Finally, an excellent run from Alison Hughes saw her post a very respectable 38.11 (73 rd) over the five mile multi-terrain course.
Last Wednesday evening saw the staging of the Birkenhead Park 5 mile race and for the second year running an excellent run from Ellesmere Port's Ian Cooper saw him post a personal best time of 27 minutes and 27 seconds improving his time from 12 months ago by 10 seconds. This gave Ian 18 th position overall and 4 th in the Male Vet 40 category.
