The hugely popular Llandudno 10 mile road race was staged last Sunday with a record field of 1249 finishers treated to a windless cool sunny day making for great running conditions.
The race was run for the second year in a row by Ray Plant of City of Stoke AC in a time of 51 minutes 23 seconds, with Tipton Harrier Luke Northall second in 52.35.
Steve Crowe was the first of 16 Ellesmere Port runners to finish after producing his best run to date in a new club record 56.05 to secure 14 th position overall knocking over 3 minutes off his personal best.
Paul Robertson was the second EPRC runner to cross the line after producing his quickest time in a few years on the course to finish in 59.45 for 58 th position.
Immediately behind Paul came Denis Duret who clocked a well deserved Sub-60 time of 59.46 for 59 th position. The trio of Steve, Paul & Denis gave EPRC men a very respectable 8 th position in the team event out of 54 complete teams.
Mike Burns produced an excellent time of 1.02.28 to set himself a new personal best finishing in 104 th position some six minutes quicker than 12 months ago.
Next to finish for the club was Chris Marshall who produced his second PB within a week in a splendid time of 1.02.45 for 113 th place.
Yet another personal best was to come from the club's 6 th runner home, Matt Whitfield who finished in an outstanding 1.03.47 putting to bed his recent injury woes.
Gary Richards was the next runner home after improving by over a minute on last years outing to finish in 1.07.33 (265 th)
Dave Nalder was next to finish for the club after posting 1.08.18 for 284 th place.
The sole lady representing the club was Alison Macdonald who bettered last years time by almost 3 minutes to clock 1.09.28 for 328 th position overall.
Brian Griffiths was soon to follow in a time of 1.09.48 (353 rd) and then came Alan Durston who ran very close to his time on the course last year in 1.11.48 (417 th)
Kevin Curtis was next to follow in 1.13.07 (458 th) with Andrew Hunt finishing in 1.14.42 (502 nd)
Thomas Downey was the 14 th runner home for EPRC in a time of 1.14.55 securing 525 th place overall and was followed in by the energy zapped Mark Dodd who'd been recovering from a week of the flu 1.15.33 (539 th)
Brian Treadwell was the final runner home for the club posting a time of 1.27.29 for 894 th place.
Sunday the 6th of November saw Chris Marshall racing in Manchester.
Alexandra Park was the venue and the flat, three lap course in was ideal for
an attempt on his 5km personal best. In a field of 84, which was lead home
by Damian Nichols from Wilmslow in 16.13, Chris finished in 11th place with
a new best time of 18.23.
On the 30 th October Mark Dodd made the trip to Nottinghamshire along with 1873 other runners for the Worksop Half Marathon.
On a hilly and undulating course, Mark produced an excellent time of 1.32.02 averaging 7.01 per mile to secure 259 th position.
