Double Delight at Delamere and Dunham

Delamere 5.8m Trail Race on 12.6.08

Three runners finishing in the top six places strongly demonstrates EPRC’s ever increasing quality and depth of runners at all distances and on all surfaces. Running on winding trails in and around Delamere Forest was clearly to the liking of Steve Laker, Graham Earlam and Paul Robertson. First home for the club was Steve who took third spot overall in a time of 36m26s.  Steve was able to just stay ahead of new recruit Graham who finished in 4th spot in 36m32s. Not too far behind those two was jolly tar Paul who having clearly regained his land legs was thus enabled to secure 6th spot in 37m8s.

Dunham Massey 5k Road Race on 13.6.08

Maintaining his highly impressive recent form, EPRC’s Denis Duret bagged himself a top 10 finish in this fast and highly competitive race with a time of 17m7s. Although not a PB Denis’ performance did deservedly secure him the first Vet 40 prize. Putting in an equally impressive performance was Paul Ashley who once again dipped under 19 minutes and set yet another new PB of 18m48s. This represents a fantastic achievement for Paul as he bettered his previous time when running of this race 3 weeks earlier by 35 seconds, which improvement is all the more impressive as it has been achieved in only a matter of weeks. Paul’s next target will surely be to get under 18m30s.

Capenhurst 10k Road Race on 15.6.08

Whilst no official results were available at the time of going to press I am reliably informed that recent structured training paid off handsomely for EPRC’s Jason Bennett who smashed his 10k PB and for the first time dipped under 40m. Not far behing Jason was new mum Nicky Bird, who will be encouraged that her return to racing schedule is clearly on track as she clocked an impressive time of 41m48s to finish 2nd lady. Also putting in encouraging performances were Ann Ball and Julie Pearce who will no doubt forcefully and quickly inform me should a PB have been set by either of them!!
