Bramhall 5k

Chris

Chris Marshall was making it a hatrick of appearances in this free to run challenging 5k race. Based inside Bramhall Park near Stockport the race consists of two laps of pathway and off road terrain.

Chris, improved his years best once again for the 3rd consecutive week posting 19:09 for 7th position.

The race was won by Andrew Nixon in 16:16 with first lady coming home in Sarah Aylmer in 20:12.

Annual Race The Train

Ten Ellesmere Port Runners ventured to Tywyn in Wales for the annual and now 25th running of this worldwide known race. With over 1000 entries for the main event which consists of 14 mile of off road running in order to get back before the hooter of the train is sounded entering the station. After a Friday night of gale force winds and horizontal rain, the Saturday morning didn't start much better. However, with the rain just holding off for the afternoon and with the race starting at 2pm, ground conditions for the race had already been set, deep bogs, floods and numerous treacherous sections.

1st home for the club was the inform Graham Earlam in 31st place and 2nd V50 in 1:35:15, closely followed by 2nd (75th overall) Paul Robertson 1:38:38, 3rd (86th overall) Mark Dodd 1:39:59, 4th (212th overall) Danny Legg 1:48:3,5th (240th overall) John Cole 1:51:52, 6th (250th overall) Matt Whitfield 1:52:2, 7th (276th overall) Jason Bennett 1:54:1, 8th (385th overall) Alan Durston 2:00:5, 9th (422nd overall) Alison Hughes 2:03:0, 10th (562nd overall) Brian Griffiths 2:15:42. The train came hurtling into the station in 1:47:59.

Birchwood 10k

Three "Race The Train" bottlers made the shorter journey to Birchwood in Warrington to take part in the popular and fast Birchwood 10k. First home for the club was Denis Duret posting a solid time of 36:35 and 42nd position. Next home was Jon Hawker in 45:43 and 266th position. Not far behind her husband was Debbie Hawker running superbly well to post 53:18 and 490th place.

Winning the race in a great time of 29:52 was David Webb of Leeds City AC with the ladies race being won by Jenny Blizard in a stunning 34:57.
