The Wirral Multi Terrain League held annually each September from locations at Royden Park, Eastham Woods, Harrison Drive and Arrow Park saw a host of Ellesmere Port Runners attend the first two races.
Race one was held on Tuesday 6 th September at Royden Park, Thurstaston and consisted of a tough two lap course with a rocky climb thrown in.
First runner home for Ellesmere Port RC was Ian Cooper who finished the race in 9 th position in a time of 28 minutes 22 seconds.
Denis Duret was next to follow after completing the course in 29.47 to secure 16 th position. An excellent run from Mike Burns saw him finish the race in 30.31 for 21 st place.
Danny Legg was next to follow in 32.45 for 50 th position and was followed by Gary Richards 34.39 (73 rd), Pete Jones 34.58 (76 th) & Alan Durston 35.06 (78 th).
Paul Welsh was the 8 th EPRC runner home after finishing in 35.16 for 82 nd position with Les Fleetwood next 36.28 (99 th) and finally Eric Corker 39.50 (117 th).
On the ladies race, Alison Macdonald was flying the flag for Ellesmere Port and finished in a respectable 9 th position in 36.16.
Race 2 on Tuesday 13 th September saw 11 EPRC runners make the short trip to Eastham Woods for a 4.5 mile testing course through the Woods in the twilight hours.
First runner home for Ellesmere Port was Ian Cooper who completed the course in an excellent 4 th position (1 st Over 40) in 26.15 and was immediately followed by Steve Crowe who finished 5 th (1 st Under 40) in the same time of 26.15.
Mike Burns was the third runner home for the club after negotiating the course in 29.34 to secure 33 rd position.
Matt Whitfield running with an Achilles injury was next to finish in 30.07 (49 th) and was followed by an improving Gary Richards 31.04 (68 th).
Pete Jones was next to finish for the club in 32.01 (78 th) and was followed by Paul Welsh 32.53 (85 th) and Eric Corker 35.41 (103 rd).
A full ladies team saw Nicky Bird run her first race in 3 weeks and finish in second position in a time of 30.38.
Alison Macdonald finished 9 th for the second time in the series in 33.02 and was supported well by Alison Hughes who finished the race in an excellent 21 st position in 34.51.
Two Ellesmere Port runners headed to the North East last Weekend for the World's biggest half marathon, The Great North Run.
First home for the club in a very handy time of 1.27.50 was Mike Burns whose finishing position was 366 th out of over 50,000 participants.
Alison Macdonald was also out representing Ellesmere Port RC and finished the race in precisely 1 hour 40 minutes.
Finally, one Ellesmere Port runner who was missed off the results last week for the Lake Vryrnwy Half Marathon was Thomas Downey who completed the race in a satisfactory 1.45.32 to secure 363 rd place.
