Wednesday, 16 July, Mossley Hill Athletic Club was the host for the Sefton Park 5 Mile Road Race, in Liverpool. This race is not fastest 5-mile course and with less than ideal weather conditions and with heavy rain clouds looming overhead, fast times were not expected. However, the rain managed to hold off and Ellesmere Ports sole representative Graham Earlam set about his task. While the club may have be been lacking in numbers at this event, this was made up for by Grahams achievement. Not only did new recruit mark his arrival in the vet 50 age group with a win with almost perfect splits, he also in the process smashed the club vet 50 record, setting a very impressive sub 30min time of 29.32.
The winner was Etyfi member A Vaughan with a time of 25.19. The Women's race was won by B Wright from Blackpool Running Club with a time of 31.50.
