Runner's turnout on chilly morning for Borders League

Another fantastic turn out last Sunday saw 20 Ellesmere Port RC runners head to a chilly Tattenhall for round 2 of this years Borders League. The 6.1 mile course was to test the runners over some vicious hills but thankfully with little ice on the roads.

Pete Lambert of Deeside AAC made it two wins out of two after coming home in 32.41 followed by the quickly improving Brendan Rothery of Eryri Harriers 33.17 with last years overall winner Clive West of Buckley AC 3 rd in 33.22.

Nicky Bird was the driving force behind the woman's team as Nicky coasted to victory in a time of 37.31 hopefully putting her summer injury woes behind her.

Alison Macdonald was the final EPRC lady to finish in an excellent 43.09 (16 th), however an injury to Alison Hughes meant that the ladies fielded an incomplete team and the points penalty has seen them slip to 2 nd overall in Division 2 but still in a promotion position.

First runner home for Ellesmere Port men's team was Steve Crowe after finishing 14 th in 34.53.

Denis Duret produced a strong run and was the next runner home for the club after posting 35.49 for 26 th position.

Paul Robertson showed a return to form after clocking 36.51 to secure 38 th place and was followed by Tony Hyland who posted 37.36 for 50 th position.

The performance of the day came from Chris Marshall who produced another excellent run of late to finish 58 th in 37.54.

New Dad Simon Jeffs was next to finish for the club after clocking 39.12 (87 th) and was quickly followed by Matt Whitfield 39.21 (91 st).

Danny Legg was the 8 th finisher for the men's team after coming home in 40.37 for 114 th with club secretary Dave Nalder just a few seconds behind in 40.43 for 116 th.

Mark Dodd was the all important 10 th counter for the club after clocking a satisfactory 40.46 for 118 th.

Gary Richards was the 11 th EPRC runner home in 41.35 (130 th) and was soon followed by Ian Robinson 41.37 (131 st).

Pete Jones was next to finish for the club with a time of 43.06 (156 th) and was immediately followed by Steve Blaylock 43.07 (157 th).

Les Fleetwood was the 15 th runner home for EPRC after finishing in a time of 43.30 (160 th) and was followed by Alan Durston 43.49 (164 th), Andrew Hunt 45.49 (191 st) and finally Nigel Crierie 49.39 (234 th).
