Nicky Bird Retains Title At 11th Village Bakery Half
Sunday 19th February saw eight Ellesmere Port Runners head to Wrexham for the annual Village Bakery Half Marathon. Cool conditions and a slight breeze proved to be perfect conditions for racing. Eddie Simpson of Salford was the overall victor finishing in 01:07:35. First lady home and retaining her title was Ellesmere Port’s own Nicola Bird in 01:20:36. Nicky had the race to herself with the second place lady being over six minutes behind.
Mike Burns, who after a slow start, was strong in the second half of the race and was first man home for EPRC in 01:26:09 for 88th position.
Following Mike was Danny Legg and continuing his comeback from injury posted a positive time of 01:29:06 for 120th and is now looking good for the London Marathon in April.
Next EPRC runner home was Alison MacDonald. Producing the performance of the day she finished in 01:33:31 for 164th position overall and 3rd Lady V40 category.
Alan Durston was the 5th EPRC runner home in 01:37:24 for 194th position.

First Ellesmere Port runner home was Mark Dodd, posting a time of 42:33 for 101st place.
