Port Runners take trip to Seaside in Multi-Terrain League
The third round of the Wirral Multi terrain league was staged on Tuesday 20 th September at Harrison Drive, Wallasey starting and finishing on the beach.
Steve Crowe was the first of twelve Ellesmere Port runners to finish after sealing 9 th position overall in a time of 24.53
Ian Cooper was to finish Immediately behind Steve in 10 th position after posting a time of 25.07.
Denis Duret was soon to follow after an excellent run saw Denis finish 13 th in a time of 25.33.
The fourth runner home for the club was Mike Burns who produced a satisfactory time of 28.04 for 48 th position.
Ian Robinson was next to finish in 29.02 (64 th) with Gary Richards hot on his heels finishing in 29.06 (66 th)
The seventh runner to finish for EPRC was Steve Blaylock who completed the challenging course in 29.47 for 84 th place.
Les Fleetwood was the 100 th finisher on the night posting a time of 31.30 with Andrew Hunt finishing 10 seconds later in 31.40 (104 th) and finally Eric Corker finished in 34.12 for 122 nd place.
On the Ladies race, Alison Macdonald finished an excellent 8 th overall in 31.06 and secured 2 nd place in the Under 40's age group with one race to spare.
Alison Hughes also running well on the night finished a sound 19 th overall in 32.22.
The winner of the race was Michael Halman of Wilmslow AC in a time of 32.35.
First EPRC runner home was Steve Crowe who clocked 35.00 to secure 9 th position overall. Ian Cooper was the second runner home for the club after finishing in 35.53 for 14 th place.
Nicky Bird finished the race in 50 th position overall and 4 th Lady in a time of 38.43 continuing her comeback from injury, however the run was good enough to see Nicky crowned Cheshire Grand-Prix road running champion for 2005 following on from her performances at Four Villages Half, Chester Spring 5 and Christleton 5K earlier in the year.
Steve Blaylock was the 4 th EPRC runner home finishing in a time of 42.23 for 112 th position.
Another good run from Alison Macdonald saw her finish the race in a time of 43.43 for 135 th overall.
Quick starter John Jennings lead the race into the first turn after a few hundred metres but soon was dragged back and finished in a time of 44.32 for 143 rd position.
Tracy Lewis-Jones was the final EPRC runner to finish after completing the course in a time of 1.00.38 for 307 th position. This was Tracy's first race in sometime.
Two Ellesmere Port runners headed to Manchester on Sunday for the Swinton Half Marathon.
Andrew Hunt was first to finish the 13.11 mile distance in 1.41.46 for 157 th place and 12 th V55.
Alison Hughes posted a good time of 1.48.57 to finish 214 th overall and 26 th Senior Lady.
