Once again
EPRC were represented in the annual "Tough Team" race,
a grueling 9 miles on the road, on the trail and of
course on "the railway". Calling themselves "Gay Adventure Club",
the three runners were Alison Cole, Jon Cole and Mike Burns. They
acquitted themselves superbly well to complete the race placing
11th overall as a team out of 53 competing teams. A second team from
Ellesmere Port were also entered calling themselves "Crazy Horses",
using team members John Jennings, Catherine Evans and Jon Hawker.
They threesome placed 26th showing what quality EPRC has at the
moment both in speed and also in depth of team. The winners were "An
Uneasy Coalition" from Wrexham AC in the form of Darren Rowlands,
Mike Robbins and Tom Annable.
Wombourne
Half Marathon 20th June 2010
Mark Dodd was
EPRC's sole representative in the Wombourne Half Marathon near
Wolverhampton, making its first comeback in 8 years as an event and
was run by over 500 athletes. On a tough undulating course but in
perfect racing conditions Mark ran his best ever half marathon
placing 4th in a new PB time of 1:16:12 (5:49 m/m). With some
beautiful countryside, this is one of the very best half marathons
in the country.
Winning the
event at a canter was Tipton's Martin Williams in 1:09:07 (5:16
m/m), with 2nd place going to Tipton's Steve Brookes in 1:10:41
(5:23 m/m) and 3rd spot going to Stephen Pettit of Ely Runners in
1:14:51 (5:42 m/m).
