After what can only be described as the year from hell for Mark Dodd, which has included a fractured leg and trapped nerves to name but two of his injury woes, he made his first comeback race. While the longer distances are normally his preferred choice, on this occasion mark ran the relatively short distance of 5k. The race in question was the third race of the Reebok Manchester 5k Sizzlers series. This course is one of the more difficult on the local race scene, and the current heat wave made Marks time of 18:40 all the more impressive. With Mark’s talent and determination it will not belong before he is back in the PB hunt again and I am sure racing marathons.
The winner was Salford Harriers member Andi Jones with a time of 14:48. Taking full advantage of local knowledge was the women's winner & Sale Harriers runner Gemma Murphy with a time of 17:17.
