"The great thing about athletics is that it's like poker, sometimes you know
what's in your hand and it may be a load of rubbish, but you've got to keep
up the front.""
Sebastian Coe
About Mark
Joined EPRC in June 2004 after ballooning from
11st 7lbs in 1997 to 16st 1lb in 2003. Spent 18+ months in the gym,
building muscle and fat burning but it wasn't working, so I joined
EPRC. Best move I ever made. Swore I'd never run more than 10k, by
June 2005 I was running my first half marathon (Freckleton) in 1:46.
Did my first marathon (Paris) in February 2006, had a disaster by my
own expectations with 3:32:02. From that moment on, I was determined
to break 3 hours... I ran 2:55:55 in New York November 2006. Ran
2:51:51 In Edinburgh May 2007, then was out later that year for 15
weeks with a stress fracture. 2008 was a write off. 2009 was a good
year, coming back, winning a silver medal for Cheshire, then PB'ing
a variety of distances. However 2010 is the main target year, with
Chester Marathon, Berlin Marathon and Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon my
main targets.
