Training Nights & Why Join?
If your brief is weight control, improve your
fitness, upgrade from another sport, return from injury or your just
another running nut, come to one of our official training nights held on
Tuesday’s and Friday’s or one of the more informal
training nights highlighted in summer/winter training. We meet at the
Whitby Sport & Social Club at 6.45 p.m., runs commence at 7.00
p.m. So why not come along, no qualifications necessary, just the
willingness to run or jog as you see fit. ALL runs will always
have a back marker, so NO ONE is left behind! Don't feel guilty,
this is a requisite of the club!
Beginners Training
Night
Starting Wednesday 16th June 2010 and
continuing each Wednesday night (6:45pm start from Shell Club) until
29th September 2010. All abilities welcome and the contact for this
will be Gary Richards who'll be taking the sessions. Please,
even if you can only run 200m, or run 1 mile, Gary will be on hand
to offer advice, and if your ability improves to such an extent, you
may be able to join the Tuesday/Friday night club runs as well. A
considerable amount of our beginners from last year, ended up be
able to run up to 5-8 mile and now run with the club on the normal
nights. In 2009, this was our biggest success, bringing in a fresh
set of runners (the majority being ladies), some of whom couldn't
manage more than 200m without stopping, yet now, have moved to the
Tuesday and Friday sessions running 5 mile. The club prides itself
on beginners and all levels of running so PLEASE do not feel that
you will be left alone, if you come down, meet some of the members
and speak to anyone about either running with us for a few weeks or
maybe joining you'll be made to feel friendly and welcome. From road
racing to cross country to mountain runs, Ellesmere Port Running
Club has what it takes to make you all feel welcome. Feel free to
email
for further information.
We also have a good social scene with regular none
running events like BBQ's, Xmas parties and any excuse to get
everyone from the club together. Many of the club members have made
some of their closest lifelong friends at the club. From camping at
the Race The
Train event to travelling to Amsterdam as a team event for the
half and full marathons, we pride ourselves on our team spirit.
We recently ran our biggest team challenge yet, the
Welsh Castles 2 day 20 leg race that separates Caernarfon and
Cardiff Castle. This saw 20+ team members of all abilities
travel over the weekend of the 12-13th June 2010 for team building,
competition and socialising
